RAWALPINDI: The search and rescue operation in the Gayari sector of Siachen has entered its 12th day.
Despite harsh conditions, rescue work continues day and night. Machines and volunteers are removing snow from identified spots, while on site number one the tunnel which was made on Tuesday in being opened.
There is a tunnel also being built on another site, however there is danger of further landslides due to the decreasing temperature.
Teams from the US and Norway are assisting in the rescue efforts.
139 soldiers and civilians were buried underneath an avalanche in the Gayari sector of Siachen on April 7.
