A delegation of 123 Navy officers of 41st Staff Course of Pakistan Navy War College on Friday visited Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry to explore role of the business community in investment generation and job creation said a press release by LCCI.
The LCCI President Irfan Qaiser Sheikh while talking to the delegation stressed the need for strengthening of institutions and consistency in policies to ensure investment generation that would ultimately help achieve economic stability.
Pakistan Navy War College delegation was led by Commodore Shahid Rao.He said that no country could ever achieve its aims and objectives until and unless it has a strong system backed by strong institutions as weak institutions bound to expose a country or a state to all types of challenges including economic and social.
The participants asked a number of questions ranging from global recession to MFN status to India.Giving a detailed briefing on LCCI role in policy making, the Navy Officers were informed that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry is playing its due role for promotion of trade and industry in the country.
Over 100 sector-specific Standing Committees collect private sector feedback, analyse and after a thorough debate it is forwarded to the concerned government departments for consideration at the time of preparation of the Federal Budget.
He said that Chamber monitors the budget, anomalies are identified and these coupled with revised proposals are again communicated to the relevant policy making departments.
The Lahore Chamber also keeps liaison with the commercial sections of the Foreign missions and an exchange of information is ensured.Speaking on the occasion, the head of the delegation Commodore Shahid Rao, lauded the role of LCCI for keeping the country’s economy on right track.
