USA and UK are against Pak nuclear programme: secretary defence

Secretary Defence Lt Gen (retd) Asif Yaseen Malik has said that the US and Britain both were against Pakistan’s nuclear programme disclosing that following the orders of (then) British prime minister, the British intelligence MI-6 had arrested the very first Pakistani nuclear engineer.

Talking informally to media persons at the Ministry of Defense on Friday, he said that the US had also used other intelligence networks against Pakistan, while CIA had handed over a list of its representatives operating in Pakistan.

Asif Yaseen said Pakistan developed fresh relations with the US on mutual interest basis. The US tone towards Pakistan had changed, he added.

He said that 95pc defence policies are made by Pakistan’s armed forces adding that the armed forces had the full capacity to launch an operation in North Waziristan. However, this operation would not be successful till the Pak-Afghan border is sealed adding that when operation is launched, terrorists ran and enter Afghanistan
