PAKISTAN ARMY CLINCH NATIONAL RUGBY C’SHIP TITLE

Pakistan Army clinched the title after upsetting Punjab in the final by 24-10 goal in the 20th National Rugby Championship played here at Qayyum Sports Complex on Sunday.
Federation Minister for SAFRON and President FATA Olympic Association Engr. Shaukat Ullah was the chief guest on this occasion.
Senator Abdul Raziq Khan, Secretary FATA Olympic Association Shahid Khan Shinwari, Director General Khan Khyber Pakthunkhwa Sports Board Engr.Khanzeb Khan, Director Sports Faisal Jamil Shah, Secretary Khyber Pakthunhwa Olympic Association Zulfiqar Butt, hockey Olympian Rahim Khan, former international hockey player Imtiaz Afridi, Secretary Pakistan Rugby Federation Arif Saeed and large number of spectators were also present on this occasion.
Before the start of the match the players of both the finalist teams Pakistan Army and Punjab were introduced to him.
The match between Army and Punjab produced thrilling play but Army was mostly dominated the proceedings. Army played with pack defence and did not give much time to settle down in the final match. Army took the lead through Zafar who run down the flank with a clear goal, followed by another one five minute later. Zafar scored three individual goals by putting army in full command.
Punjab on the other hands, also put in some pressure and scored a goal through Naveed Ahmad.
Army was leading by at 12-5 got a certain lead by winning the match 24-10. The match supervised by Naeem with Khalid and Jamal Khan.
Earlier, Pakistan Police defeated Balochistan by 17-11 as it took third position and Balochistan remained at fourth.
