Pakistan summons Indian deputy high commissioner

Pakistan has expressed serious concern over the continuous ceasefire violations by Indian border security forces (BSF) across the Line of Control (LoC) over the past couple of days.

n a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Indian Deputy High Commissioner had been summoned this afternoon to express concern over the ceasefire violation which resulted in the loss of a civilian’s life in Rawalakot.

Pakistan called upon India to uphold the ceasefire over the LoC and reiterated its commitment to the Ceasefire Agreement of 2003, which it said should be respected in letter and spirit by both sides.

The statement also urged the need for abiding by and strengthening existing military mechanisms to ensure that such violations by either country did not occur in the future.
Pakistan was committed to a constructive, sustained and result-oriented process of engagement with India and believed that serious efforts needed to be made in maintaining a positive atmosphere and avoid negative propaganda, it said.
